European Parliament MEP’s are not so honest with their expenses

Damming footage of MEP’s signing in on Friday morning to get their allowance for the day and then heading off to the airport to get home for the weekend.

I suppose that technically this is fraud. If I were to submit a similar expense to my company not only would I be liable for it but so would my employer. Also, I’d be fired.

Kathy Sinnott (Irish MEP) tries to justify herself. You don’t sound very convincing Kathy…

Also, Kathy two things:

- Showing email headers proves nothing.

- You have just given out personal information online (names and valid email addresses) without the owner’s permission. Tut tut tut.

  1. I think you have to take her word on this one, she’d be crazy to lie and she probably doesn’t know how to fake email headers.

I agree with you on the second point, assuming she didn’t ask permission which I think is a fair assumption. Still I don’t think it is a hanging offense.

The point she doesn’t address is whether it is valid to claim Friday’s expenses for 7 hours work in the wee hours, she could have done most of this work from home, and slept instead. Would she be entitled for expenses if she did the same work at home.

  2. She is far from the worst crook in the EU.
